May 2022 I stepped out of my zone and applied for a grant that I seen being shared around Instagram. I took a leap and applied which involved a 5-7 minutes video discussing my business, why I started it, how I want to benefit my community and what the funds will be used for.

I couldn’t have imagined that I would be a winner only because my presence (at the time) didn’t always translate digitally. I submitted my form and video then I prayed.

Late in June I received an email detailing that I was a winner. I was one of 5 Black-women owned business in Canada to win. The funds from this grant assisted me in accessing several professional development courses, business memberships, certifications and educational classes.
